First Taste of Spring – Our 2025 Honey Harvest Begins

The bees have been busy — and so have we! This week marks our first honey extraction of 2025, and it’s always one of our favourite moments in the beekeeping calendar.

A True Taste of the Season

There’s something truly special about the first spring harvest. After months of winter care — feeding, treating, and keeping our colonies healthy — it’s a real joy to open the hives and find frames full of golden honey.

This early honey is light in colour and delicate in flavour, a seasonal snapshot of the local blossoms our bees have been enjoying. Here at Cottage Orchard (Perllan y Bwthyn), spring honey is always a highlight for its smooth texture and floral notes.

What’s in the Jar?

This year’s first extraction brings together the best of our surroundings. The bees have been foraging from cherry, blackcurrant, and hawthorn blossom, giving the honey its unique and naturally blended flavour.

These local blooms don’t just make our honey taste amazing — they also play a vital role in keeping our bees strong and thriving. Each jar is a reminder of the connection between pollinators, plants, and people.

What Happens Next?

As the season moves on, we’ll keep checking the hives and extract more honey when the bees are ready. Every batch will be a little different, depending on what’s flowering and how the weather plays its part.

We’re excited to be sharing this journey with you — from hive to jar.
